Krishna Puja Vidhi
Krishna Puja Vidhi is the traditional method of worshipping Lord Krishna with devotion, purity, and love. The puja generally begins with cleaning the worship area, taking a bath, wearing clean clothes, and placing an idol or picture of Lord Krishna on a decorated altar. Devotees then light a diya and incense, take a sankalp, and invoke Lord Krishna through prayers and meditation. The idol may be bathed with Panchamrit—milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar—followed by clean water. After this, Lord Krishna is adorned with clean clothes, flowers, Tulsi leaves, ornaments, sandalwood paste, and a peacock feather.
Devotees offer fruits, sweets, butter, mishri, kheer, panjiri, or other sattvic food as bhog. Tulsi leaves are considered especially dear to Lord Krishna and are traditionally included in the offering. Krishna mantras, the Hare Krishna Mahamantra, Krishna Chalisa, bhajans, or passages from the Bhagavad Gita may be recited during worship. The puja concludes with Lord Krishna’s aarti, prayer for forgiveness, distribution of prasad, and a heartfelt request for peace, wisdom, devotion, prosperity, and protection. The true essence of Krishna Puja lies not only in the rituals but also in surrendering the mind and heart to the Lord with sincere love and faith.
Krishna Puja Vidhi provides a complete devotional procedure for worshipping Lord Shri Krishna at home or in a temple. It explains the main steps of the puja, including preparation of the altar, sankalp, invocation, abhishek, decoration, offering of flowers and Tulsi leaves, bhog, mantra chanting, bhajan, aarti, and distribution of prasad. This worship can be performed daily, on Wednesdays, Ekadashi, Janmashtami, or other auspicious occasions.
The puja is believed to bring spiritual peace, positivity, wisdom, happiness, and harmony into the devotee’s life. Worshipping Shri Krishna also inspires qualities such as love, compassion, patience, righteousness, and selfless devotion. Even when elaborate puja materials are unavailable, devotees may worship Krishna simply by offering water, flowers, Tulsi leaves, and sincere prayers.
