Shukravar Vrat Mantra

Shukravar Vrat Mantra

Shukravar Vrat Mantra refers to the sacred mantras chanted during the Friday fast dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi and Shukra Dev. Devotees recite these mantras to seek prosperity, happiness, love, harmony, beauty, comfort, and financial stability. Regular chanting with faith and devotion is believed to strengthen the positive influence of Venus and remove obstacles related to wealth, relationships, and material well-being.

A prominent Shukravar mantra is:

“ॐ द्रां द्रीं द्रौं सः शुक्राय नमः।”
Om Draam Dreem Draum Sah Shukraya Namah

For the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi, devotees may chant:

“ॐ श्रीं महालक्ष्म्यै नमः।”
Om Shreem Mahalakshmyai Namah

These mantras are traditionally chanted 11, 21, or 108 times on Friday after bathing and completing the worship rituals.

Friday, known as Shukravar, is considered an auspicious day for worshipping Goddess Lakshmi, the divine source of wealth and prosperity, and Shukra Dev, the planetary deity associated with love, luxury, creativity, beauty, relationships, and material happiness. Observing the Shukravar Vrat and chanting its sacred mantras with a calm and focused mind is believed to attract positive energy and bring balance to different areas of life.

Devotees generally wake up early, take a bath, wear clean white or light-coloured clothes, and prepare the place of worship. An idol or picture of Goddess Lakshmi or Shukra Dev is placed on a clean platform. White flowers, rice, sweets, kheer, sugar, milk, perfume, and a ghee lamp may be offered during the worship. After making the offerings, devotees chant the Shukravar Vrat Mantra with complete faith and concentration.

The mantra “Om Draam Dreem Draum Sah Shukraya Namah” is dedicated to Shukra Dev and is traditionally recited to strengthen the favourable influence of Venus in one’s horoscope. The Lakshmi mantra “Om Shreem Mahalakshmyai Namah” is chanted to seek the blessings of Maa Lakshmi for abundance, peace, success, and financial stability.

Regular chanting of these mantras may help devotees develop gratitude, discipline, emotional balance, and a positive outlook. It is also believed to promote harmony between married couples, improve relationships, support creative abilities, and reduce difficulties caused by an unfavourable placement of Venus. However, the true purpose of mantra chanting is not limited to material prosperity—it also encourages inner purity, devotion, contentment, and spiritual growth.

While chanting, devotees should sit peacefully, pronounce each word clearly, and maintain positive intentions. A white sandalwood or crystal rosary may be used to complete 108 repetitions.
